The Queen of Attars
Pure Rose Attar
— Gulab Attar from Kannauj
10,000 kilograms of fresh Damask rose petals. One kilogram of pure attar. The most prized of all Indian perfumes — naturally yours.
About Rose Attar
Gulab attar is distilled from the Damask rose (Rosa damascena) — the same variety cultivated for centuries in Kannauj's famous rose fields. The harvest window is just 20–25 days in March and April, when petals are picked before sunrise to capture their peak aroma.
The distillation is slow and deliberate — a single batch in a traditional deg takes 5–8 hours. The aromatic molecules that evaporate with steam are collected in a receiver of pure sandalwood oil, which captures and concentrates them into a liquid of extraordinary richness.
The result is a honey-coloured oil with a scent that no synthetic laboratory has ever been able to fully replicate — warm, complex, and alive with the soul of the rose.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is rose attar?
Rose attar (Gulab attar) is a pure oil perfume made by hydro-distilling fresh Damask rose petals directly into sandalwood oil using the traditional deg bhapka method. It is considered the most prized of all attars — it takes approximately 10,000 kg of fresh rose petals to produce just 1 kg of pure rose attar.
How does rose attar smell?
Pure rose attar has a deep, honeyed, slightly earthy rose scent — far richer and more complex than synthetic rose fragrances. It has warm, slightly spicy undertones from the sandalwood base. The scent evolves beautifully on skin, revealing different facets over the first few hours.
How long does rose attar last?
High-quality rose attar lasts 8–12 hours on skin — often longer on hair and clothes. Apply a single drop to pulse points. The fragrance deepens and evolves as your body heat activates different aromatic molecules.
Is rose attar good for skin?
Rose has natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and skin-healing properties. As attar is applied in very small amounts (a single drop), the skincare benefit is primarily aromatic. Avoid applying directly to broken or irritated skin.
How do I know if rose attar is pure?
Pure rose attar has a rich, evolving scent that changes on skin. It should have a slightly waxy, honeyed quality with earthy undertones — not just a simple rosy sweetness. It should be viscous, not watery. If it smells exactly like rose water or synthetic rose spray, it is likely adulterated.
